The Division of Cardiology at University Hospital Graz is an integral component of University Heart Center Graz and the comprehensive care center for patients with cardiovascular disease in Styria and the surrounding regions. The division has an excellently trained team and top-level medical equipment. In addition to standard cardiology care, the division also provides an extensive and specialized range of interventions for coronary heart disease, repair and replacement of heart valves, electrophysiological diagnostics and therapy for heart rhythm disorders and a number of the latest interventional and non-interventional therapeutic procedures that are employed in special cases. The Division of Cardiology promotes the development of new therapeutic procedures by participating in clinical trials and investigates the mechanisms underlying a wide variety of diseases that affect the heart. This knowledge flows into the treatment of patients as well as the solid training of students and physicians at University Hospital.
The division has a large outpatient area, two inpatient wards, a cardiology intensive care unit and a cardiac catheter lab. In addition, important interdisciplinary treatments are performed at the facilities of University Heart Center Graz along with the divisions of Cardiac Surgery, Paediatric Cardiology, Anaesthesiology for Cardiovascular Surgery and Intensive Care Medicine and Internal Medicine.
The uniqueness and the added value of our division are the result of the symbiosis between patient care, research and education. The division is jointly operated by the Medical University of Graz and the Styrian Hospital Association (KAGes). This interdisciplinary cooperation between both providers at the University Hospital Graz site is also reflected on our website. More information on patient care can be found at the University Hospital Graz website.
