One important area of responsibility of the division is teaching cardiology. The learning outcomes addressed by the division are firmly anchored in the Med Uni Graz learning outcome catalogue. In addition to required module XII (Grundlagen der Inneren Medizin/Fundamentals of Internal Medicine), students have the opportunity to increase their knowledge of cardiology and clinical skills in special study modules and electives.
Required module XII provides the theory of cardiology in the study of medicine. 16 lectures cover the most important topics in cardiology, and required tracks I-III in cooperation with other internal medicine specialties provide more in-depth information. Required tracks I (Vom Symptom zur Diagnose/From Symptom to Diagnosis) and II (Leitsymptome in der Notaufnahme/Cardinal Symptoms in Emergency Care) introduce cardinal cardiology symptoms that are explained in required track III (Kardiologische Therapiekonzepte/Cardiology Therapy Concepts). Special study models that build on this basic knowledge are also offered in collaboration with cardiology (SSM22, SSM44, SSM59, SSM32, SSM54, SSM58) and free electives (e.g., Clinical Cases in Cardiology, ECG seminar, Theory and Practice of Echocardiography).
The wide range of professional development opportunities at the Medical University of Graz is directed at a variety of occupational groups in the fields of medicine, science and research, nursing and health services. Most of the professional development courses can be completed while the participant is regularly employed and provide him/her with a valuable additional qualification.
Die Studierenden lernen in der Zeit an der Klinischen Abteilung für Kardiologie alle Bereiche der Abteilung kennen. Sie sind für mehrere Wochen der Bettenstation sowie der Kardiologischen Intensivstation zugeteilt, um die wichtigsten Aspekte des Faches kennenlernen zu können. Zudem gibt es fixe Wochen, in denen sie der Kardiologischen Ambulanz sowie dem Herzkatheterbereich zugeteilt sind. Ebenfalls Teil der Zeit an der Klinischen Abteilung für Kardiologie ist die Teilnahme an den täglichen Morgenbesprechungen, in der interessante Fälle aus dem Nachtdienst besprochen werden. Damit wird den Studierenden ermöglicht sich ein umfassendes Bild von den Aufgaben kardiologischer Spitzenversorgung zu machen. Es ist eine Selbstverständlichkeit, dass die Studierenden fix in das Team integriert werden und so das Maximum an Information für sich mitnehmen können.
