Kardiologie

The Basic science branch of the working group focusses towards detection and characterisation of physiological and pathophysiological signal transduction mechanisms involved in cardiac and metabolic disease. Profound expertise is available with respect to myocardial glucose metabolism. Using physiologic, molecular and pharmacological techniques we try to unravel metabolic and cardiospecific effects in failing and non-failing human myocardium. The group is mainly engaged into pharmacological and interventional therapies of coronary heart disease, heart failure and structural heart disease as well as interactions of cardiac and psychiatric diseases.
